The Democratic Messenger 04 Apr 1872, Thu ·Page 1, Fremont, Ohio H. Bowlus & Co. are engaged in the manufacture of sash, doors and blinds, and also do a general planing mill business, and carry on an extensive lumber yard. The firm, which beside Mr. Bowlus comprises Edward Dener and John A. Engert, was formed in 1868, and and at that time built this mill. They employ from 17 to 18 men, and transact a large trade, about half of all they make being for shipment. The office business is under the management of Mr. Bowlus, a native of the county, who has for the most of his life been engaged in the lumbering trade, and he is certainly well qualified to conduct affairs. The other partners also pay personal attention to the business. Their office, mill and yard is in a convenient location, nhear the railroad depots, giving them decided advantages in the way of shipments and they are pushing the business to its utmost extent.
